Anyone looking for a ranking of Italy's car dealer groups finds an order without numbers. Quintegia publishes the names of the five largest groups by revenue, but not the figures. ICDP's European ranking has the figures, but stops at 2024 and includes two Italians. Accounts filed with the Italian companies register are public, but they are the accounts of single companies: a group that controls twenty of them does not appear anywhere as a group.
We did the simplest thing possible: we looked, group by group, for who has said publicly what it turned over in 2025, and over what perimeter. The result is a short ranking, and the fact that it is short is the first finding.
The ranking: six groups have made their 2025 revenue public
| Group | 2025 revenue, €m | The figure |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Autotorino | 2,850 | declared |
| 2. Eurocar Italia | 2,234 | declared |
| 3. Intergea | about 2,000 | declared |
| 4. Bossoni | about 1,200 | estimated |
| 5. Pasquarelli Auto | 506.6 | from accounts |
| 6. Fratelli Giacomel | 478 | declared |
Autotorino sells in six regions and in Warsaw and grew 5% on 2024; Eurocar Italia, part of Porsche Holding, is in nine regions; Intergea in eleven; Bossoni across Lombardy and Emilia, up 9%; Pasquarelli in Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise and Lombardy; Fratelli Giacomel in Lombardy, up 13%.
The six figures are not of the same kind, and that should be said before comparing them. Pasquarelli's comes from the consolidated accounts of a listed company, and is value of production. Bossoni's is a consolidated figure estimated by the group in December 2025, before the year closed. The others are figures announced by the groups: Autotorino in December 2025, including its Warsaw site; Eurocar through its management in April 2026; Intergea in its release on 2025 sales ("two billion euros of turnover"); Giacomel in June 2026. For an order of magnitude they all do. For a multiple they do not.
Four groups sit above a billion, then revenue halves
The top four together make about €8.3 billion. The fifth to publish a figure, Pasquarelli, is just above half a billion: less than half of Bossoni. Between the two, no group has declared its accounts.
The four grew in different ways. Autotorino, owned by the Vanini family, was 23rd in Europe in ICDP's 2024 ranking with €2.688 billion, and has its first site abroad in Warsaw. Eurocar Italia turned over €128 million in 2016: management says growth came "almost entirely through external lines", meaning acquisitions, and the company is wholly owned by Porsche Holding, and so by Volkswagen. Intergea entered ICDP's 2024 ranking in 36th place with €1.78 billion. Bossoni, from Brescia, expected in January 2024 to "come close to a billion" after buying Baiauto in Reggio Emilia, and estimates €1.2 billion for 2025.
Two first places, measured two ways
Intergea says it was first in Italy for cars sold in 2025, with 72,845 vehicles counted on the public vehicle register, across 33 controlled and associated companies, excluding its three most recent acquisitions. Autotorino declares 79,137 deliveries in Italy, of which 44,498 new and 34,869 used.
They do not necessarily contradict each other: one figure comes from the register, the other from the group's own deliveries, and the perimeters differ. But it is the reason why a dealer ranking without the perimeter written next to every figure is a list of claims. Anyone using it to decide something needs to know what is being counted.
Who is missing, and why
Large groups are missing. Penske Automotive, from the United States, has 29 sites in Italy after buying the Ferrari dealership in Modena in July 2025, but in ICDP's ranking its Italian business sits inside its European one, and no 2025 figure for Italy is public. Retail networks owned by manufacturers, such as BMW's and Stellantis's, are left out by choice: they are a channel of the carmaker, not a business that can be bought.
Above all, family groups are missing, and they are the majority. Many file one set of accounts per company and publish no consolidated figure, or file one without announcing it. Adding up a group's companies from the outside means guessing the perimeter, counting sales between companies of the same group twice, and getting someone's numbers wrong, which they will then point out. So we do not do it here.
Five of the six bought dealerships between 2024 and 2026
In this market, the groups that publish their accounts are almost always the ones buying.
- Autotorino completed an acquisition at the end of 2025 that gave it four sites in the Cremona area.
- Eurocar Italia integrated PWP in 2026, the company behind the Porsche Centres in Florence, Arezzo and Pescara.
- Intergea in 2025 took 51% of Denicar in Lombardy (October), 100% of Domina in the Marche (November, through its sub-holding Intergea Premium) and a majority of AutoRigoldi in Milan, through Mocautogroup.
- Bossoni bought Baiauto (January 2024) and merged five companies into one, Bossoni, from 2 January 2026.
- Pasquarelli Auto bought 67% of Sesto Autoveicoli (July 2025) and a business unit of V.I.V.A. Brescia Diesel (August 2026).
For Fratelli Giacomel we found no recent acquisitions: the growth it declares comes from corporate fleets, which reached 70% of deliveries in the first quarter of 2026.
It is not a coincidence. A group that buys needs banks to finance it, manufacturers to approve the change of ownership and sellers to know who it is. A public revenue figure serves all three. A group that does not buy has no reason to say what it turns over.
The only public margin is 2.5%, and the prices paid are low
Of the six, only Pasquarelli publishes its margin, because it is listed on Euronext Growth Milan. In 2025 it closed with consolidated value of production of €506.6 million and EBITDA of €12.5 million: 2.5%, on our arithmetic. In the first half of 2026 sales revenue was €321 million, with EBITDA of €8.7 million (2.7%) and net financial debt up to €122.4 million, from €97 million at the end of 2025.
Inside that €321 million is €101 million from Sesto Autoveicoli. For 100% of Sesto Autoveicoli the total consideration was €4.35 million, split between Pasquarelli (67%) and Autouno Group (33%). The company's debt is not known, so this is not a multiple. It is, however, the order of magnitude: a business that turns over a hundred million in six months changed hands for less than five million of equity.
The August 2026 purchase is even clearer. Pasquarelli paid €1.5 million for the business unit of V.I.V.A. Brescia Diesel, with about 7,000 square metres at Caleppio di Settala, the Jeep, Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën, Abarth and Fiat Professional mandates, the staff and the contracts. The price, the release says, "was determined on the basis of the value of the assets and liabilities" of the unit. That is, on net assets, not on a multiple of profit: nothing, or next to nothing, was paid for goodwill. It is what can be seen elsewhere in Europe: a dealership's goodwill is worth what the manufacturer's mandate behind it is worth, and on some brands that is not much.
What it means for an owner
For someone who owns a dealership and is thinking of selling, this ranking is not a league table of prestige. It is a short list of likely buyers, each with its way of buying: in two of its three 2025 deals Intergea took 51% or a majority and left the rest with the previous shareholders, Pasquarelli buys controlling stakes and business units, Eurocar sells only Volkswagen Group brands. A seller knows in advance who it will be talking to, and can prepare for that. When the buyer leaves a stake with the founder, the final price often depends on what happens after closing: that is earn-out territory.
The pool they buy from is shrinking. According to Quintegia's Dealer Network Study 2026 there are 710 dealer-entrepreneurs in Italy, 5% fewer than a year ago and 41% fewer than in 2016. The same phenomenon seen from the network's side: dealerships do not close, they change hands. Fewer owners, larger groups: a seller now faces counterparties with more choice than before.
Working out which of these groups would pay most for a given business, and in what form, is the work we do on the sell side.
Method
The ranking includes groups that sell cars at retail in Italy and have made their 2025 group revenue public, through a release, accounts or an interview with management. Manufacturer-owned retail networks are left out, as are single-company figures taken from databases, which do not say how large the group is. Every figure carries its type: declared, estimated or from accounts. We will update the ranking when 2026 accounts come out. If a group publishes its 2025 accounts, we will add it.
